Lake Dillon Theatre To Bigger Stage
In 2010, the tiny Lake Dillon Theatre Company, with a full-time staff of three, produced more theatre than the Denver Center Theatre Company.
Lake Dillon Theatre Company was the winner of the Denver Post’s 2010 Ovation Award for best year by a company and is about to launch a $ 4 million capital campaign to move out of its 60 seat cabin theater and into a two stage performing arts center it plans to build just down the street on Lake Dillon Drive.
With a population of only 800, the theatre company amazingly drew 10,407 people to see 12 offerings last year. It operates on an $ 800,000 budget and it is about to become the eighth Colorado theatre troupe to join Actors Equity, which guarantees a minimum number of union actors in every production. The staff is also about to expand to 5 people.
Next years output will be eight shows as the company begins fund raising for their new 15,000 square foot home. The current facility is about 2200 square feet. The main theatre will be a traditional 183 seat proscenium. The adjoining studio theatre, seating 80 – 100 should replicate the intimacy of the current space. For information call 970-513-9386.
