The Weather Channel announced yesterday it will be giving blizzards names just like those given to tropical storms. “The new naming system will raise awareness and reduce the risks, danger and confusion for consumers in the storm’s paths”, Weather Channel said.

Summit County Ski Season Begins
Posted by reots on Oct 14, 2011 in Let it Snow, Uncategorized | 0 comments
A-Basin officially opened for the 2011 – 2012 ski season on Thursday October 13th just 100 days after closing on July 4th. Snowmakers at the mountain worked throughout the week to create an 18 inch base on the intermediate High Noon run along with several features in the High Divide Terrain Park. There is no beginner skiing open at the mountain.
Several inches of fresh snow this week helped snowmakers finish the task and open Black Mountain Express on Thursday.
Loveland Ski Area opens Friday October 14th.
