Summer is in full-swing in Summit County! Not only do our mountain communities serve as an amazing source of outdoor fun, but there is a plethora of festivals, farmers markets, and artistic performances happening on almost any given day around the county. Check out this cheat sheet and be sure not to miss out on any of your favorite events!

National Repertoire Orchestra: The NRO prepares the musically talented youth for careers in music while providing guests with an exquisite musical experience. They stay and play in Breckenridge throughout each summer, offering a series of special performances and some free public events for the enjoyment of all. Check out their full schedule here.
Frisco’s Concert in the Park series hosts various up-and-coming musical artists for free concerts at the Historic Park Gazebo & Lawn every Thursday until August 18th, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. All concession proceeds benefit local nonprofits. For a music schedule, click here.
Theatre: The Breckenridge Backstage Theatre, a nonprofit dedicated to enriching the cultural essence of Breckenridge founded in 1976 re-opened its doors this summer. CHICAGO, the musical, and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe are both currently on stage and will be available Thursdays to Sundays through July 24th. A 2014 Torry Award winner for “best play,” Vanya, Sonia & Masha Spike will play from July 29th to August 14th. The famous Hairpspray production will close out the season, playing from August 26th to September 4th.
Dillon amphitheater offers free concerts from 7:00 – 9:00 every Friday & Saturday night. Summit County’s summertime couldn’t be complete without experiencing at least one of these outdoor concerts with sweeping views of Lake Dillon, the mountain range, and breathtaking sunsets.
Dillon also hosts a great Farmers Market, Arts Festival, Boating events and tours, dance nights, and historical society events throughout the summer. For a complete list of what’s happening, click here.
The Lake Dillon Theatre Company will perform the musical Cabaret until August 14th at its temporary theatrical home at the Outlets at Silverthorne while the new performing arts center is built.
Friday Afternoon Club at Keystone Resort offers fun for the whole family. Kicking off from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with Kidtopia yard activities (horseshoes, cornhole, ladderball, boccee ball) prior to a guided cupcake & canvas activity. From 4:00 – 7:00 pm there is live music, drinks, food specials, and of course yard games for the adults! Check out the live music schedule and more details here.
FESTIVALS
Copper Mountain has a new festival almost every week, celebrating music, mac & cheese, burgers, biking, beer, and more. Weekly events include campfires, fireworks, and mountain top yoga. Check out all the happenings here.
Breckenridge Music Festival: This multifaceted music festival will occur throughout July and August, featuring big-name performances at the River Walk Center, intimate in-home performances with champagne, dessert, and the opportunity to meet the musicians, and even innovative events that combine live music with nature, hiking, yoga, and other activities adored in our mountain community. Some of the bigger-named headliners coming to Riverwalk Center this summer include the Indigo Girls, the infamous Stringdusters, and Amos Lee.
Breckenridge International Festival of Arts: From August 12th – 21st, international artists of all kinds will come to town for various exhibitions, installations, music, performances, dance, theater, film, wellness, and workshops. - L’Homme Cirque: a one-man circus in the South Gondola lot with a high-flying acrobatic tricks, a high wire act, music, and dance.
- Trail Mix takes participants hiking and biking along trails of Breckenridge to ultimately experience 24 pop-up outdoor concerts, environmental installations, and more.
- The Moth, an all-star lineup of storytellers who have been featured on the NPR program will take the stage, offering a new theme nightly.
Breckenridge Wine Festival: A new event for Summit County’s summertime, this inaugural event is a whole weekend dedicated to all things wine-related from September 15th – 18th. Key events include farm to mountain wine dinners, a large assortment of seminars, wine-paired brunches, dinners, and of course a Grand Tasting featuring some of the top wineries ~ all with a beautiful mountain backdrop.
