Golfing in Summit County

Golfing in Summit County is an extremely popular outdoor summer activity that many people enjoy – the official season starting . . . sometime in May!  Every golf season in Summit County is different depending on how much snowfall we’ve received throughout the season, particularly during spring months.  This year we had a strong spring snowfall that is delaying some of the courses opening, but the great news is when these beautiful courses do open the greens will be lush, rivers and creeks will be flowing and you’ll have awe-inspiring snow-capped mountains as your backdrop.

The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks in Silverthorne is open and featuring pre-season rates.  This Hurdzan and Fry designed golf course offers 18 holes with challenging mountain obstacles and beautiful mountain vista views of the Gore Range.  Last weekend they held their soft opening on the Front 9, with the Back 9 expected to open in the next week or two.  According to their website, spring greens fees are $25 all day for 9 holes through May 15 only; $30 all day for 9 holes, $50 all day for 18 holes until the club is fully open.  The driving range is $15 and all season passes are now on sale.  Click here to find more information about the Raven Golf Club prices.

Keystone Ranch Golf Course in Keystone is opening this weekend (5/13/2016).  This mountain golf course incorporates a Scottish style course with mountain obstacles such as lodge pole pines and a thirty-acre lake.  Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. the club was named one of the five best golf resorts in the Rocky Mountain region by Golf Digest in 2016.  The big mountain views from each hole on the course continuously take you’re your breath away.  The first 18 holes open on The River Course this weekend, followed by the final 18 holes on The Ranch Course on May 27. According to their website, spring greens fees are: $89 for 18 holes from open to 4 p.m., $55 from 4 p.m. to close until June 2.  All fees include golf cart, practice facilities and practice balls.  The driving range is $20 for for unlimited driving range balls and $250 for The River Course practice facility season pass. Click here for more information about playing at the Keystone Ranch Golf Course.

These two courses are a great way to warm-up for any golfer looking to get rid of their rusty swing and to enjoy peace and calm on the course before the golf season is into “full-swing”.

Golfers who visit Copper Creek Golf Course at Copper Mountain will find the Front 9 demands their attention and concentration as it winds through natural alpine terrain, towering pines and numerous lakes and streams, all leading to rolling emerald greens.  The Back 9 changes in character as the fairways cut through the forest and the scant remains of a 19th century mining town. Due to the winter weather this spring, they are waiting for a little more snow to melt before moving forward with the opening.  One unique addition to the club this year is they’ve added eight golf bikes for those golfers out there that prefer a little different way of travel.  Spring greens fees and driving range fees are yet to be determined but you can find more information about Copper Creek Golf Course here.

The Town of Breckenridge can boast that it is the only municipality in the world to own a Jack Nicklaus designed, 27-hole golf course.  The Breckenridge Golf course is one of the most popular among the four courses throughout Summit County.  The driving range is set to open Friday, May 13th, followed by the Elk 9 and Beaver 9.  The Bear 9 will open in June when crews finish an irrigation project they started last season.  Locals with a Summit County or Park County driver’s license pay $22 for 9 holes or $44 for 18 holes (same as a punch card) until June 9.  The local’s rate returns at least once per month in July, August and September.  Regular spring greens fees are $67 all day for 18 holes walking, $85 all day with a cart through June 9.  The driving range is $7 for 60 balls until June 9, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  For more information about rates and tee times for the Breckenridge Golf Course click here.

We are looking forward to seeing you out there this summer!
