SUMMIT COUNTY - After a slump in August, the real estate market in Summit County proved bullish once again in the month of September, according to statistics collected by Land Title Guarantee Company.

In September, the Summit County real estate market soared 36 percent to $219,939,000 in monetary volume, as compared to $161,353,500 in 2005. The number of transactions stayed relatively steady with 444 this month versus 445 a year ago - an encouraging upward trend after a disappointing August. SUMMIT COUNTY - Mother Nature served up the High Country a large helping of snow this week, and local ski resorts aren't hesitating to take advantage of it.

Breckenridge Ski Resort

Breckenridge Resort has 520 acres of skiable terrain open, serviced by seven lifts. The mountain has received 65 inches of snow this season.

"It's been a great early season, probably one of our best ever," said Breckenridge Resort spokesperson Nicky DeFord.

Keystone Resort

A jumpline in the popular A-51 Terrain Park will open today, and the resort plans to leave some features in place at the smaller terrain park on the Flying Dutchman trail on Dercum Mountain, said resort spokesperson Meghan Grabow.

Keystone has received 57 inches of snowfall this season, and has opened 275 acres of skiable terrain on Dercum Mountain, serviced by four lifts.

Arapahoe Basin

Arapahoe Basin has already opened 59 percent of its terrain with four of the mountain's five chairlifts operating. The Pallavicini Chair has not yet opened. Top to bottom skiing is available on the mountain with 10 intermediate trails and seven black diamond trails open, as well as the High Divide Terrain Park.

Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain Resort has reported 20 inches of snow in the past week, and has opened 41 trails, or 436 acres of terrain, serviced by seven lifts. Most of the open trails run down the front of the mountain to Center Village, however the Timberline Express chairlift provides access to nine intermediate and beginner trails, and a few trails are open in the Union Creek learners' area. Skiing in East Village will commence at 9 a.m. on Wednesday with the opening of the Super Bee Six Chair. The resort hopes to open the Main Vein Superpipe in the next week.

Nordic

For cross-country enthusiasts, the Frisco and Breckenridge Nordic Centers are open. The Frisco Nordic Center, which is located at the Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area, opened Friday with 12 kilometers of trail packed for skiing. The annual ski swap at the Nordic Center will run today and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Breckenridge Nordic Center, opened on Oct. 20, and now offers 10 kilometers of beginner, intermediate and advanced trails, all in prime condition, said said Frisco and Breckenridge Nordic Centers concessionaire Therese Dayton.
