Luxury units come to Breck

BRECKENRIDGE - One Ski Hill Place, a 90 unit development at the base of Peak 8, is about to raise the bar for luxury.
The first 15 of 90 units will be released Dec. 8, and there's already interest, according to Alex Iskenderian, vice president of Vail Resorts Development Company.
The asking price of the first of four penthouses will be $2.67 million - the highest asking price for a non-single family residence in Summit County. The previous record was $2.4 million from a Crystal Peak unit.

BRECKENRIDGE — Heisman trophy winner and former NFL pro running back Eddie George has been eyeing Breckenridge real estate. And he’s not the only celebrity some local developers are hoping to attract.
George came into town to tape the Pro Football Preview for the Titans vs. Broncos game Nov. 19. He is part of a large real estate group in Columbus, Ohio, so he’s savvy when it comes to real estate. And when he looked at the prices per square foot compared to Aspen, he thought it was night and day, said his spokesperson Odell Winn.

You should’t take any bump on the head lightly

EAGLE COUNTY — Vail Mountain School goalie Sean Minett didn’t remember much after suffering a concussion during a soccer game.
Minett, 16, was diving for the ball when he was kicked in the head.
“I was told it jarred my brain to the right. It didn’t hurt much at the time, but after about 15 minutes, I started to get headaches and dizziness,” he said.
Head injuries like Minett’s are not uncommon in sports — from “hard contact sports” like soccer and hockey to “impact sports,” like skiing and snowboarding, said Stephen Schmitz, a doctor at the Brain and Behavior Clinic in Boulder.
Schmitz talked about concussions and treatments with area sports trainers at the Colorado Athletic Trainers Association conference earlier this month.
