The Colorado Rockies are home to the USA Pro Cycling Challenge each year. Summit County will host four days this summer! The race will begin in Steamboat Springs on August 17th and the finale commences in Denver on August 23, 2015 after passing through eight mountain host cities!
Celebrating the 5th year of competition, the USA Pro Challenge is one of the largest spectator events in all of Colorado. Summit County is excited to add two additional host cities to the roster this year including Arapahoe Basin and Copper Mountain. Breckenridge will remain a host city, including a high-altitude time-trial to mix things up within the mountain town!
This year, the largest professional sporting event in Colorado will face new obstacles, as athletes race across four mountain passes; each reaching heights above 9,300 feet. Dramatic elevation climbs will enhance the competition during the USA Pro Challenge, while cyclists conquer Rabbit Ears Pass, Hoosier Pass, Fremont Pass and Independence Pass.
Visit Summit County during the end of August to experience this unique event. Long route stretches, high elevation climbs and unpredictable mountain weather will make this the highlight of the summer in the mountains!
